CutPlan
Free working tool · by ShrutiHow it works
For small workshops planning straight stock cuts

Know which bar gets each cut.

Allocate pieces to the stock you have. See kerf, end trim, remaining lengths and anything that does not fit, before you reach for the saw.

CutPlan in practice

Straight one-dimensional cuts only. No mixed-material job, 2D nesting, angles, CNC integration or guaranteed global optimum. Three-decimal input precision; integer internal arithmetic. Diagrams are schematic, not cutting templates. Verify dimensions and shop practices before cutting.

No account, API, microphone, tracking or cloud database. No subscription is required to run these files.

Free proof, reusable full pack

Full edition: up to 500 pieces and 500 stock bars per job, saved local jobs, downloadable offline HTML, source and worked examples. Free edition: a complete job of up to 20 pieces.

Full-pack listing is being prepared. The free web tool is usable now.

New experimental tool. Buyer demand, sales and real workplace outcomes are unproven. No guaranteed savings or revenue.

From input to useful output

  1. Use one material per job and one consistent unit: millimetres or decimal inches. Enter actual stock lengths and available quantities.
  2. Enter the blade kerf and trim allowance per end. Quantities must be whole numbers; lengths support up to three decimal places.
  3. Build the heuristic plan. Unplaced pieces remain visible and make the plan incomplete. Unused stock is listed separately.
  4. Review the labelled cut list and dimensions. Each separating cut consumes kerf; an exact final piece consumes no extra end kerf. Confirm the plan at the bench.

Could you use a free alternative?

Yes. Existing spreadsheet/label/planning tools may already meet your needs. Try this complete bounded workflow before considering the larger offline pack.
